The Tooth Fairy!

Sunday is a 'pants' day  in our household. For those of you who don't already know, my husband is in the Royal Navy and travels 300 miles to and from work every single week, meaning he is away during the week and each Sunday is the goodbye day. So, as you can probably imagine, Sunday nights are slightly 'fed-up-ish' with the kids slumping around complaining "It's not fair he has to go away to work … [Read more...]

Pre-baby wardrobe request!

Day 1

Wanted: 'Unwanted dresses'.... have you got any that spring to Mind? Sian from Mummytips tweeted me yesterday asking if I would post about something she came across recently. A lady who is carrying out a 365 dress fashion feature on her blog in aid of mental health charity 'Mind'. Would you consider giving up just one of your dresses for her. It's for such a good cause. And quite a novelty … [Read more...]

Come Play With Me!…

For a change, this post isn't about parenting, pregnancy, birth or mummy tums.. neither is it about Flying Start or Mumable. It may waste a few minutes or even hours of your life though! All work and no play makes Manda a dull bird, (All I seem to do at the moment is work) so today I decided to have a coffee break or two and partake in something my husband and his ship mates seem to be competing … [Read more...]

Kids Today Are Doing Everything Earlier Arent They?

Kids today are doing everything earlier arent they? We hear it all the time. Having boyfriends and girlfriends earlier, sitting exams, staying home alone etc. And as I have recently discovered, using technology! My son from the word go was very technologically minded, he would grab at the TV gadget, would play with the keys on the phone and turn the TV on and off. Recently he has started nursery, … [Read more...]

Dont Be Afraid

Its one of the hardest words to say isnt it. Especially as a mother. To ask for help, to ask for advice, to not know everything and not have the answer. As a new Mum who'd had an emergency c-section at 16 I was determined that I wouldnt ask anyone for help because if I did someone would take my baby from me, or they would say I told you so. I struggled. I fought. I battled. But one day it got … [Read more...]

Painting by Nipples… the breast night of fun you will ever have!

I've just paid £10 deposit to get my boobs out on Wednesday 27th October... anyone want to join me?! I couldn't resist committing to join in the fun whilst admiring Jane's boobs over at Fired 4 U earlier! They were printed onto a plate and cleverly created into the 'Breast Muffins in Preston' !! Yes, I'm talking about 'breast painting'. I also saw TJ's from bras4all.co.uk, whose were nipple … [Read more...]

The BIG Diet! Friday #Tweigh days!!

Tweigh/twā/Verb To find out how heavy (someone or something) is, typically using scales.... and erm Twitter! I was 'dossing around' on Twitter last week and ended up chatting to the lovely Emma Collins (@EmmaCollinsPR) about weight, dieting and the usual. Before you know it, we'd decided to set ourselves a fitness goal, PUBLICLY! The only method of weighing myself, Wii Fit, was out of batteries, … [Read more...]

Change.

GOSH. We asked a question. Do you think Parent Blogging is Becoming More Competitive?. The post wasn't one sided. It didn't say there was anything wrong with change. It didn't say there was anything wrong with creating an income using your blog. Just as it didn't say there was anything wrong with reviewing products. The aim of it... to simply explore whether there was an increased trend of such competitiveness … [Read more...]

Is parent blogging becoming more and more competitive?

Is parent blogging becoming more and more competitive?

When Flying Start first looked into the parent blogging world, we loved it. Lots of parents were blogging about their everyday lives, their families and their children. Mums and Dads were sharing stories about parenthood and helping each other along the way. Recently it seems to have taken a turn. More parent bloggers are trying to 'make it' using their blogs; trying to use blogging to create or … [Read more...]
